the process

1. initial discussion

Submit an inquiry or send me an email to get started. Then, I will contact you to hold our initial discussion. This conversation will give me a feel for your needs and will also give me a chance to answer any of your questions. We will:

  • Layout your goals.
  • Outline what you want the website to accomplish (e.g. to communicate information, display your work, etc.).
  • Determine who your website needs to appeal to.
  • Select your domain name (e.g. www.yourdomainname.com).
  • Discuss our next steps.

2. quote & contract

After our initial discussion, I will send you a quote that contains the details for your website. If you are happy with the quote, I will send you a contract that will also contain the scope of work. After signing the contract, you will send it back along with a deposit (usually 25% of the quote).

3. "sketches"

You and I will start developing “sketches” of your future website. These sketches, or concepts, are rough drafts that will be crafted to fit the vision you have for your website.

4. pre-development

At this stage, you will provide me with the content, or text, and images that will be on your website’s pages.

5. development

I will begin to create your website based on the sketch you approved. I will communicate frequently with you during this step. Throughout the development process, you will be able to track the progress.

6. launch

After the site is developed and final payment is received, your website will be copied to your web host. It will then be viewable to all by visiting your domain name. Also, I will submit your website to many search engines (e.g. Google, Yahoo!, etc.) to establish your internet presence.

7. support

The entire process doesn’t end after the launch! Websites require maintenance and modifications over time to keep people visiting. You can easily reach me and I will quickly make any updates.
